The difference between flange nut and ordinary nut

1. Flange hexagon nuts and ordinary nuts are basically the same in size and thread specifications, the main difference is the structure. The flange hexagon nut has an integrated design with anti-slip teeth at the bottom.

2. This design increases the surface area of the nut in contact with the workpiece. Compared with the combination of ordinary nuts and washers, the flange hexagon nut is stronger and can withstand greater tension.

3. The contact area between the flange nut and the connector is large, which determines its application scenario. In cases where easy connection is required, the bolt holes of the connectors are machined larger, making alignment easier.

4. The contact area between the ordinary nut and the connected piece is reduced due to the increase of the bolt hole, and the use of flanged nuts can avoid this problem.

5. The groove design of the flange nut not only increases the contact area, but also plays a role in preventing loosening, which is widely used in rotating mechanisms.

6. Hexagon flange nuts do not require additional use of flat pads and spring pads, because they already have anti-slip and stop functions. Adding flat and spring pads can be counterproductive.
